A Reunion Blessing Nancy asked me to say,
So we pause for a moment giving thanks and to pray.
It’s a time to be grateful even shed a few tears.
But it’s hard to believe that it’s been fifty years!
Now I shouldn’t be pushy but have you taken you pills?
And while you’re at it, have you written your wills?
We’re older and wiser, our teachers made us so bright.
I just hope I remember what happens tonight.
I tried losing weight so I’d look healthy, not pale,
But when that didn’t work, I just bought a new scale.
As we work hard to look healthy, younger and wise
Thank God we can pay for new hips, knees and eyes.
On a more serious note, we are most blessed indeed.
So our thoughts should all turn to the things we now need.
It’s not about trinkets or our 401K’s
No, it’s all about enjoying the rest of our days.
First we pause and remember our classmates now passed.
Who left memories and stories that forever will last.
We’ll meet them one day in that great house above.
Where all of God’s children will gather in love.
We also remember our soldiers most brave.
And those families who visit with tears at their grave.
While we laugh and make merry on this night that we cherish,
They do what they must so our freedoms don’t perish.
So be a blessing to others, there are many in need.
It’s not the size of your gifts, but the generous deed.
Send gifts to the needy, take meals to a friend,
Write a letter of hope to a life on the mend.
And may God grant you courage as you face each new year,
The presence of faith and the absence of fear.
Passion in your striving, friends if you roam,
Joy in your labor and love in your home.
Let’s join at this moment, in a toast to the night
May the years that remain be happy and bright.
May we be blessed with hope, an abundance of cheer,
As we spread Cardinal cheer to those far and near.
And now lift your glasses as we give thanks for this night,
For the blessings we share and all that is right.
For our family, our freedoms, classmates far and near.
May God’s peace surround all these friends we hold dear.
